Monday 3rd November: full day in Singapore

We got up rather late (jet lag and very little sleep on the planes does that for you…), but spent a long afternoon into the evening exploring the Marina Bay area. A lot of this is new development where a barrage has been added and lots of new buildings in the area, such as
part of the Singapore Youth Olympics park (the football pitch/opening and closing ceremony area is a floating pontoon),
a large theatre complex,
a huge, very modern shipping mall (catering mainly for higher-end shops)
and a big park area with indoor botanic gardens and the outside ‘Super Trees’ which ‘perform’ twice each evening, with both light and music.

We hadn’t been that sure what to make of Singapore from what we saw when arriving, but we thoroughly enjoyed today.
